Today, because of research, sound public policies, and a wide variety of technical solutions, the immediate and long-term benefits of effectively processed biosolids are viewed as a safe and versatile option. Effective and proper management of biosolids can provide a reusable byproduct and drastically reduce capital and operating costs associated with handling biosolids.

Siemens Water Technologies has a wide range of solutions from dewatering and drying technology to complete biosolids reduction processes. For instance, the Dragon Dryer® system and Convective Thermal Dryer (CTD) systems can discharge 90+ percent of dried solids meeting class A and AA biosolids requirements, allowing the solids to be reused as a low grade organic fertilizer. Through the innovative Cannibal® Solids Reduction System, municipalities can significantly reduce biosolids and the energy required to run the treatment process.

Another energy efficient technology is the Dystor® membrane gas holder system, which can capture methane gas produced by the sludge treatment process. The system assists in lowering operational energy costs, while allowing methane gas to be recycled that would otherwise be wasted.
