APWA CONGRESS: Disc-Style Chipper

The model 2012-D Storm chipper features a pivot arm-style feed system equipped with solidly mounting hydraulic motors to provide smooth feeding action while reducing stress on the motors. The infeed opening measures 12 in. x 18 in. at the feed wheel and flares out to a 30-in. x 40-in. opening at the end. A shock-absorbing cylinder is mounted on the feed wheel pivot arm to provide protection from stress on moving parts. As an option, this cylinder can be powered to allow the feed wheel to be raised hydraulically.

This model is equipped standard with full instrumentation and safety shutdown systems to protect the engine. The hydraulic and fuel tanks are equipped standard with float-type gauges. The pivot arm style feed system helps eliminate binding problems because it utilizes a single pivot point rather than requiring the entire mechanism to slide on wear rails.
