The Friends of EXPO Center(“The Friends”), announced today the honoree of the prestigious “Community Champion Award,” to be presented at the highly anticipated 5th Annual Salute to Community Champions event on May 28. This year’s event will honor AEG, well recognized for its pioneering and far-reaching economic impact in Los Angeles. Backed by extraordinary support from local, regional, national and international corporations and public-sector organizations, the event serves as a primary fundraiser for The Friends’ strategic support of innovative recreational and multi-faceted educational programs for at-risk youth and families at EXPO Center (EXPO), a vital community resource in south Los Angeles.

“No other corporation has had a more significant impact on the Los Angeles economy than AEG,” said Steve Soboroff, Chairman of the Board of The Friends of EXPO Center. “It’s no surprise that this acknowledgement has already garnered the immediate support of various high level organizations, who are inspired by this opportunity to pay tribute to AEG, while also supporting the vital work The Friends makes possible for the youth, families and seniors of south Los Angeles,” Soboroff continued.

The 2014 Salute to Community Champions event will honor and thank the worldwide sporting and music entertainment firm, AEG, for its vital role in rebuilding downtown and its incredible philanthropic efforts in the surrounding communities by presenting them with the prestigious “Community Champion Award.”
