This robust coating is expected to act as a protective layer against dust, pollution, dirt, and bird feces on the solar panel, consequently increasing the solar panel conversion efficiency by 20 percent. The new coated panels are designed to be used in remote areas where cleaning solar panels could be costly and complex, in addition to regions with a lot of dust, such as deserts.
