Citgoflex SP, featured at the APWA Exposition in Las Vegas, employs styrene-butadine-styrene polymers to enhance asphalt properties. This modified asphalt binder is said to improve the pavement performance to address three primary distress modes identified by the Strategic Highway Research Program:
- high temperature permanent deformation (rutting)
- load-associated fatigue cracking
- thermal cracking.
