Skanska To Provide Site Wide Infrastructure For University Of Cambridge Project, UK, For GBP 50M, About SEK 546M

Skanska has signed a contract with the University of Cambridge, UK, to deliver the site wide infrastructure for Phase 1 of the North West Cambridge Development, the University’s largest single capital development project. The contract is worth about GBP 50M, about SEK 546M, which will be included in the order booking for Skanska UK in the third quarter 2014.

The site wide infrastructure contract will include the delivery of all utilities (gas, water, electricity, data/communications), coordination of the installation of the site wide district heating network and the construction of primary and secondary roads and pathways. It will also include the provision of all logistics and management arrangements to enable site works, including traffic management, security, delivery management, site access and management of roadways throughout the building works.

Work is scheduled to commence in August 2014 for completion in spring 2017.

Skanska UK reported revenues of about SEK 12 billion in 2013. It has around 5,200 employees. The company is active in building and civil construction, utilities and building services, as well as facilities management and commercial development. In the UK, Skanska is a leader in public private partnerships, PPPs, also known as Privately Financed Initiatives, PFIs.
