Craft Machine Works, Inc.achine Works supplies a range of cast sluice gates sizes from 6 in. by 6 in. to 12 ft. by 12 ft. Cast gates can be supplied in gray iron, 2% nickel or ni-resist. Gate frames are all single piece castings. The guides are cast as an integral part of the frame to eliminate the leak path inherent with bolt-together parts. The loads imposed on the gate leaf are carried by the continuous iron sides.
The sluice gates are designed using solid bronze wedges and sealing faces. The bronze seals are impacted into dove-tailed grooves machined in the cast iron frames and leaves. Cast leaves are reinforced with horizontal and vertical ribs. The nut pocket is heavily reinforced on the vertical centerline and is integrated into the design of the horizontal and vertical ribs. Wedges pads are also integrally cast into the leaf.
