Advanced Plug-flow System

Thermodyne Corporation has introduced an all new advanced plug-flow rectangular DAF system. The system utilizes a plug-flow of liquid and the laminar motion of rising micro-bubbles of dissolved air to simultaneously clarify waste liquids with maximum clarification and separation efficiencies (effluent turbidity as low a s 3 NTU) and de-water the solid sludge being floated to as high as 70 percent solids, by utilizing both the gravity and buoyancy forces in a DAF unit constructed from an original design. The effluent contains only dissolved matter and can be directly treated further, if desirable, by most advanced tertiary treatments, bypassing secondary treatment completely; and the solid sludge recovered is so dry that it requires no further dewatering, resulting in an energy saving alone of at least 80 percent.

This new DAF system can handle liquid wastes at solid loading rates several times that of the conventional DAF systems. It has high degrees of operational flexibility and reliability, requiring minimum chemical cost and near-zero maintenance.
