BearCom Completes Deployment Of Video Surveillance System At New Klyde Warren Park In Dallas

Cameras Provide 24x7 Monitoring of Popular Deck Park that Links City’s Downtown and Arts District with Bustling Uptown Area

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) - BearCom, a nationwide provider of wireless communications equipment and solutions, today announced the deployment of its video surveillance system at Klyde Warren Park, the 5.2-acre deck park that already has become a popular hub of activity in central Dallas.

BearCom designed the system and installed the 13 wireless cameras that monitor the park built over a busy, recessed freeway skirting downtown Dallas. The Sony SNC-RH164 video surveillance camera can pan, tilt, and zoom with its auto-focus 26X lenses and offers clear, detailed, high-definition images, despite weighing just over nine pounds. The camera can even trigger alarms based on preset video and audio situations.

The camera deployment is the latest in a string of video surveillance projects undertaken by BearCom for the City of Dallas. BearCom installed and maintains more than 150 video surveillance cameras that monitor various parts of the Downtown and Uptown areas in Dallas, and it continues to handle additional video surveillance installations throughout the city.

Klyde Warren Park was built at a cost of $110 million on top of Woodall Rogers Freeway. Construction was highly visible to commuters and took three years, as more than 300 concrete beams were placed over the walls of the below-grade freeway to create a 1,200-foot-long tunnel. More than 44,000 people attended the park’s opening weekend festivities in October.

Pan-tilt-zoom cameras monitor the paths and green spaces of the park, according to BearCom’s Engineering Program Manager, Mike Butler, who designed the system and served as project manager. At the park’s entrances, he said, cameras offer 360-degree views displayed as four images. “They see everything and everyone that goes into and out of the park,” Butler said. The system feeds information to a server that can be accessed at the park, at the park office, and when needed, by the Dallas Police Department. “The Director of Security at the park can even see the feed on his tablet computer while he’s sitting in his living room,” Butler added.

The deployment was unusual, Butler noted, in that the feeds are viewed simultaneously by two different agencies and in the custom design work required. For example, solar lighting at the park left just four inches on the tops of the poles in which to mount the cameras.

Named for the young son of a major donor, Klyde Warren Park includes a pavilion, walking trails, water features, dog park, putting green, and more than 300 trees. It offers daily events that include concerts, films, book signings, and yoga classes. As an urban planning tool, the park links Dallas’ Downtown and Arts District with its busy Uptown neighborhood, which previously was cut off by the 200-foot-wide freeway canyon.
