EBAA IRON Develops ‘New' Restraint Device That Has Been Thoroughly Tested And Specifically Designed To Accommodate The Increased Pressure Ratings Given For C900 And C909 PVC Pipe

Eastland, TX - With the advent of increased pressure ratings being given for 4" – 12" sized C900 and C909 PVC pipe (as noted in the latest revisions of the applicable American Water Works Association industry standards and as adopted by the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association), EBAA IRON engineers have recently developed an appropriately designed split serrated restraint ring device that will assuredly provide the necessary restraint capabilities now required to accommodate these higher working pressures that have been assigned to PVC pipe.

Now readily available, the "new" EBAA 1900 series split serrated restraint ring product can effectively and economically restrain C900 & C909 PVC pipe for water and wastewater applications all across N. America – whether above or below ground, and in residential or industrial piping applications. The EBAA 1900 series product can be used to replace cumbersome external restraints such as concrete thrust blocks, which will then in effect create quicker, safer and more economical installations. It can also be used in a variety of applications that allows for the ability to restrain valves, hydrants, fittings (such as crosses, tees or elbows) and can even work as a harness to restrain the bell to spigot assembly for this type of PVC pipe. The EBAA 1900 series product literally enables any connection (that would be subject to hydrostatic pressure) to be fully restrained within the full pressure rating of the pipe – but even more importantly, within a minimum 2 to 1 safety factor design criteria.

Numerous hours of engineering design work were logged and exhaustive pressure testing was performed prior to the release of this "new" EBAA product. This type of due diligence and extra effort has paid off as the EBAA 1900 series design can proudly proclaim that it will definitely and consistently achieve, with appropriate repeatability, the optimum restraining capabilities that are required when a piping system using this type of PVC pipe operates at these higher pressure rating levels (or for that matter, may even have to perform appropriately should potentially excessive pressure surges occur from time to time) – which quite frankly, many other existing restraint product designs that are on the market today cannot achieve this level of higher performance.

The EBAA 1900 series split serrated restraint ring device can be easily installed with the use ordinary wrenches or tools that would be readily available on a pipeline project. It is constructed of ASTM A536 ductile iron, and it is available in 4-inch to 12-inch cast iron O.D. nominal pipe sizes. It's unique design and construction utilizes appropriate engineering mechanics to its advantage in order to assure maximum gripping strength and proper restraint capabilities when hydrostatic pressures increase to the maximum working pressure rating of the pipe.

In addition to the having superior restraint capabilities, the EBAA 1900 series split serrated restraint device also incorporates other standard EBAA IRON product features such as the Mega-Bond® coating system (which provides corrosion, impact and UV resistance) and "Traceability" (which provides proof of iron integrity and the ability to verify their quality assurance practices).

Fully compliant with the "buy American" requirement as noted in §1605 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (as with all other joint restraint products manufactured by EBAA IRON), the EBAA 1900 series split serrated restraint device is proudly manufactured in Eastland, TX – U.S.A.
