The new 3-D digital video-based pipe inspection system is based on an instrument-controlled robot, the Radiax Vector Orphee. This unit is designed to find defects and leaks through video and dimensional inspection of pipe lengths up to 3,281 ft. in length, and can fit in pipes between 5.1 and 31.5 in.-dia. High resolution color video, laser and zoom capabilities make it possible to see, measure, and locate cracks and faults in three dimensions. Data on a pipe can also be stored for monitoring over the long term.

The system comes equipped with a wide range of instruments (laser, positioning and tracking units) that offer three-dimensional measurement and calculations that are combined with real-time image processing. Video, photos, and position information can be added to any geographical information system (GIS). The unit is managed by a standard PC running Windows.
