Self-Cleaning, Automatic Filter/Strainers

By continually removing solids from the liquids in pipelines, the Model 596 self-cleaning filter/strainer from Hayward Industrial Products can improve productivity while also reducing operating costs. The unit is fully automatic in operation and is entirely self-cleaning.

The Model 596 automatic self-cleaning filters can be used with a wide variety of process fluids and at either very high or very low temperatures. They are available in pipeline sizes from as small as 2 up to 60 in. in cast or fabricated metal construction. A wide range of strainer screen sizes is available, from 1/2-in. perforations down to 400 mesh (0.0015-in.), making them suitable for a wide range of filtration or straining requirements. They are well suited to applications involving high solids loading and in those cases where the filter/strainer must be located in an inaccessible location.

The Model 596 has a novel, automatic control system that monitors its own operation. Self-cleaning is accomplished by an integral backwash system. A rotating backwash arm continually isolates and cleans a small portion of the screen filter element while the remainder of the screen area continues to remove debris. Flow is never interrupted.
