Nuclad Ee Series shovel handles' composite construction consists of millions of continuous, parallel fiberglass strands cured under tension in a thermosetting resin covered by an engineered plastic cladding. The strands use a cross section for strength, helping to maximize performance while minimizing weight. The core and plastic cladding are dielectric materials, protecting the user from electric shock. The cladding also protects users from splinters and resists UV deterioration.

The contoured cladding cross section has a smaller radius at the bottom to comfortably nest in the user's palm. The shovel and grip end is larger to provide leverage and control while the center tapes to help the user's hand slide when "slinging" the material away from the hole. An ergonomically designed grip fits the palm of the hand for better control, and less effort and strain. Also, and integral compression bar fills and reinforces the blade throat.
