The ductile iron core of the Series 25 Resilient Wedge Gate Valve is fully encapsulated in EPDM rubber with an integral low zinc bronze stem nut for corrosion protection and precision wedge tracing. Two O-ring stem seals reduce friction and prevent wear and tear, and a third O-ring protects the upper stem seals from impurities entering from the waterway. A wiper ring is included to protect the O-rings. Countersunk bonnet bolts are also incorporated, and each bolt is capped with hot melt to isolate them from corrosive environments. An O-ring bonnet gasket wraps each bolt to prevent corrosion.
The valve's stainless steel stem features threads rolled in a separate cold pressing process for strength and 64,000 psi yield strength. An electrostatically applied, fusion bonded epoxy coating provides additional corrosion resistance.
