Insituform Awarded $5.2M Sewer Rehabilitation Contract By The Macon Water Authority In Georgia
September 3, 2010
Insituform Technologies, Inc. announced recently it has received a $5.2M contract from the Macon Water Authority in Macon, Georgia to rehabilitate over 24,000 feet of wastewater pipelines. This award, Insituform's largest single project with the Macon Water Authority, includes 9,500 feet of 54-inch pipelines located in Central City Park, the location of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, considered one of the Top 20 Events in the South.
In addition to the wastewater pipelines located in Central City Park, Insituform will also rehabilitate nearly 15,000 feet of 21-inch and 24-inch diameter pipelines with its cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) solution in Macon. Insituform CIPP rehabilitates pipelines, reduces infiltration, restores structural integrity and increases flow capacity without disruption to communities, typically at a lower cost than dig and replace solutions.
Jim Newkirk, General Manager for Insituform's East Region, said, "Insituform was able to successfully design a project where we could meet the Authority's requirements to schedule installations in drier, winter months and complete the Central City Park project before the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Spring. We will renew the Authority's infrastructure with minimal disruption to the community while managing minority-owned subcontractors during this project."
It is expected that Insituform will begin work on this project in September and complete the work in approximately twelve months.
