City Of Bismarck Launches New Sidewalk Suggestion Tool

The City of Bismarck is launching a new Sidewalk Suggestion Tool that allows stakeholders to provide input on where future sidewalks could be considered.

“Sidewalks are commonly installed during the initial development of a site,” said Bismarck City Engineer Gabe Schell. “When the home or business is constructed, the sidewalks are also constructed, and this expands the sidewalk network within Bismarck usually in lockstep with the pace of development. However, there are instances where a parcel has not been developed or developed without a sidewalk but there is pedestrian demand in the area.”

The Sidewalk Suggestion Tool is available during, and outside, the City of Bismarck’s traditional office hours to easily report these suggestions. The form allows anyone in the community to shape their surroundings as annually the City of Bismarck will identify areas where sidewalks are needed, particularly in areas with significant pedestrian activity that either currently lack sidewalks or would benefit from their installation.

The form can be accessed online (https://arcg.is/0LTDvX0) , while links and additional information are located on the Sidewalks and Driveways page (https://www.bismarcknd.gov/276/Sidewalks-Driveways).
