Combining the power of two-way Internet connectivity with the intelligence of advanced embedded computer technology, the WebGate IRIS delivers information and control to users in a deregulated energy market. The system is an Internet-based Integrated Residential Information System. It provides both the utility and consumer with access to meter data to enhance communication, streamline customer services, automate meter reading, improve billing accuracy, and expand service options. An instant two-way communication is established with the meter via the Internet standard browser technology. The full two-way communication and programmable interval data collection provided enables Utilities to implement value-added services and programs for the consumer.

The IRIS Site Unit:
•Collects data at programmable intervals
•Records data in nonvolatile memory
•Fits under the glass and interfaces with any electromechanical or solid-waste meter with pulse or defined digital output, as well as any Internet connection.
•Authenticates users, encrypts communication and reports attempted tampering and unauthorized access

The IRIS Control Center Software:
•Scheduled data collection or on-demand reads
•Remotely controls devices connected to the Site Unit
•Installs on any Utility-based computer with an Internet connection
•Automatically transfers meter data to the Utility's legacy billing or Customer Information System
•Enables remote reprogramming of Site Units
