Sludge Blanket Clarifiers
Siemens Water TechnologiesA single treatment basin in the Spiracone upflow sludge blanket clarifier combines mixing, flocculation and sedimentation
As the flow progresses up through the unit, the rise rate becomes less than the settling velocity of the precipitation solids. This process allows a sludge blanket to form and act as a filter and catalyst providing intimate contact between raw water, treatment chemicals and previously formed precipitates. An adjustable hopper is utilized to collect sludge for periodic blow down. Flow range is 175-GPM to 5,000-GPM for a single unit. This system can be used in applications including surface water clarification, lime softening, iron and manganese removal, color and turbidity, phosphate reduction, and heavy metals.
