WTW Measurement Systems, Inc.Ammonia Analyzer Module measures ammonia by raising the pH above 12, converting all ammonium compounds to gaseous ammonia. The sample is conditioned with a complexing agent (e.g. EDTA) to prevent calcium precipitation. Free ammonia now diffuses through the semi-permeable Teflon membrane of the electrode, changing the pH of the internal electrolyte. This change, which is directly correlated with the NH4 -N concentration in the sample, is measured by the electrode.
