APWA updating of equipment codes; sample classification systems sought

An update to the APWA Equipment Code publication is planned by the American Public Works Association.

The publication, which established a nationally recognized system for assigning vehicle and equipment identification numbers, is 25 years old and become outdated.

A task force of volunteer members has been recruited to develop an updated system. As part of its research effort, APWA is requesting sample classification systems currently used by public works agencies. Departments across the nation are being asked to forward their classification systems to Dale Crandell at APWA headquarters, 2345 Grand Boulevard, Suite 500, Kansas City, MO 64108. Fax: (816) 472-1610. E-mail: dcrandell@apwa.net.
