Effective Turf Reinforcement Starts with Effective Erosion Control
The first word in turf reinforcement mat (TRM) is "turf", and for good reason. Without vegetation, the "mat" has nothing to reinforce, therefore, no way to fulfill its design function. The relationship between a TRM and the vegetation it reinforces is symbiotic. Meaning one cannot function without the other. No matter how "permanent" the TRM, without vegetation, the mat will eventually fail. Hence, a TRM's initial erosion control and vegetation establishment capabilities must be considered as important as its permanent reinforcement properties.
