Case History: Enviro-Scrub - Digester Gas Treatment

A municipal wastewater treatment plant in Southern California generating digester gas, was subsequently producing H₂S (hydrogen sulfide) at dangerous concentrations, ranging from 2,400 to 3,600 ppm. Local permitting requirements and the potential for large fines prompted the installation of an iron sponge down-flow contact tower to help maintain the H₂S at acceptable levels.

Solution
The challenge was to reduce and maintain H₂S at the lowest possible levels utilizing the existing equipment and minimal chemical treatment. Q² Technologies recommended a program that combined process changes with chemical treatment, along with design changes to improve gas/media contact resulting in significant reduction in H₂S concentrations.
