Case History: Enviro-Scrub - Digester Gas Treatment
Source: Q2 Technologies, LLC
A municipal wastewater treatment plant in Southern California generating digester gas, was subsequently producing H2S (hydrogen sulfide) at dangerous concentrations, ranging from 2,400 to 3,600 ppm. Local
permitting requirements and the potential for large fines
prompted the installation of an iron sponge down-flow
contact tower to help maintain the H2S at acceptable levels.
Solution
The challenge was to reduce and maintain H2S at the lowest possible levels utilizing the existing equipment
and minimal chemical treatment. Q2 Technologies
recommended a program that combined process changes with chemical treatment, along with design changes to improve gas/media contact resulting in significant reduction in H2S concentrations.
