Founded in 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Fibre Glass-Evercoat is a manufacturer of polyester boat patching materials. The Company's first product was a simple fiberglass resin material used for recovering and repairing wooden boats.

In the mid-1950's, the Company entered the professional autobody repair market with polyester body fillers and putties. In the mid-1990's, the Company developed some unique high build metal primers and began marketing them under the AlphaCoat® brand. SprayCore® Composites, a manufacturer of resin-based, sprayable syntactic matrix used in fiberglass boat building, was also acquired.

Fibre Glass-Evercoat was acquired by Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) in 1995 and is part of ITW's Finishing Group. ITW designs and produces highly engineered fasteners and components, equipment and consumable systems, and a variety of specialty products and equipment for customers around the world. The company's more than 500 decentralized business units in 40 countries collectively produced more than $9 billion in revenues in 1999 thanks to their focused approach to serving customers by actively promoting teamwork with customers and suppliers, the more than 50,000 men and women of ITW continue to craft competitively superior products, solutions, and work environments.
