Leak-Free And Splash-Free Knife-Gate Slurry Valves

The Clarkson Company, has announced the availability of a brochure describing their new Model KGD Knife-Gate Slurry Valve designed for leak-free and splash-free service. These new features are especially important when this type of valve is used in slurries transporting corrosives and other harsh or hazardous materials. Incorporating a completely new valve housing design, the KGD Series has a clean-out area at the base of the valve body and a packingless secondary seal at the gate entry for positive containment of slurry materials. The clean-out area at the base of the valve body is enclosed by a removable drain plate, eliminating the need for an external splash guard. The optional drain plate is provided with ports to flush-out any accumulated solids that may prevent full gate closure.

The new elastomer secondary seal eliminates any leakage between the knife gate and top of the valve body, especially when the top of the valve is mounted in a downward orientation. The field-replaceable seal also prevents any outside contaminants from getting in regardless of mounting arrangement.
