MACTEC Wins $950,000 Contract From California Integrated Waste Management Board
CIWMB is part of the California Environmental Protection Agency and is the designated state agency that oversees and manages more than 76 million tons of waste resources generated each year. CIWMB promotes a sustainable environment where resources are not wasted but can be reused or recycled through measurable and innovative programs. The Board provides grants and loans in order to help California's cities, counties, businesses and organizations meet the state's reduction, reuse and recycling goals.
According to MACTEC Project Manager Andrew Brigg, the firm is providing RAC technology transfer to local governments, engineering design consultation, construction management, technical assistance, oversight and will conduct research investigations. In addition, MACTEC will utilize web-based training products developed by the company to facilitate audio and web conferencing.
"The RAC technology transfer program, for example, will provide local government personnel with construction, inspection and manufacturing processes; material sampling and analysis techniques," Brigg said. "We're developing and implementing seminars to promote RAC and also review and critique technical standards and specifications for materials and construction. "
Briggs said MACTEC will also coordinate their efforts with the Northern and Southern California Rubberized Asphalt Concrete Technology Centers.
