Mueller Service Co. To Help The City Of Cocoa, Florida, Assess And Maintain Its Water Infrastructure
City Lays Solid Foundation for Ongoing Asset Management
Plant City, FL (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The City of Cocoa Utilities Department has entered into a professional services contract with Mueller Service Co. to provide fire hydrant and valve assessment, maintenance, repair and replacement services throughout the City's service area. A division of Mueller Co., Mueller Service Co. is a leading provider of discrete and contract assessment and remediation services to public and private water utilities in the United States.
The City of Cocoa provides water services to a population of more than 230,000 people and covers a geographic territory of approximately 270 square miles.
Under this program, the first of its kind for the City of Cocoa, Mueller Service Co. will follow a phased approach and is contracted to assess approximately 4,000 valves and 1,500 hydrants during the initial phase of the assessment program. Throughout this process, Mueller Service Co. will collect critical physical and operating information for each asset, laying the foundation for ongoing, proactive valve and fire hydrant assessment and maintenance.
After the contract was awarded earlier this year, Mueller Service Co. worked closely with representatives from the City of Cocoa and CH2M HILL for several months to develop a comprehensive approach that would efficiently and effectively inventory and assess the entire potable water transmission and distribution system within the targeted two-year project duration. The current project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2013.
