BNA Communications, Inc. released three new video-based training programs designed to help organizations comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's training requirements for employees involved in the processing, handling, or storage of hazardous waste.

OSHA's Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HazWOPER) requires employers to train employees who work with or around hazardous waste in safe waste-handling procedures, how to protect themselves from exposure, and what to do in emergencies.

The training program includes:

  • Spills: The First Responder's Duty- This shows non-technical (awareness level) employees how to recognize, report and confine in-plant hazardous material releases.

  • A Uniform for Safety: Wearing Personal Protective Equipment- This covers all the essentials for personal protection, including chemical, mechanical, and biological hazards. The main emphasis is on levles C and D, where the majority of reportable incidents are found.

  • HazMat Awareness- This provides training for anyone who has an effect on the movement of hazardous materials. It shows trainees the necessary steps required in the shipping and receiving of hazardous materials; the various labeling and reporting documents, their contents, and what needs to be included on them; and how to use the HazMat table.
