The CML lining process of cleaning and cement-mortar lining helps eliminate interior corrosion and tuberculation, increase carrying capacity, eliminate discolored water and leakage, and decrease pumping and maintenance costs. With restored flow and lasting interior protection, the process also helps users attain lower maintenance and pumping costs and reduced fire insurance rates. The protective qualities of the cement mortar maintain the flow capacity at the restored high levels indefinitely. The lining creates a barrier that permanently prevents rust between the lining and the pipe. It also offers high compressive strength, creating an "arch action" which holds the lining in tight contact with the pipe wall.

The process incorporates centrifugal application of cement mortar lining to pipelines in place. It can be utilized on cast iron, steel, concrete, brick, asbestos-cement, corrugated metal and wood stave pipe, in diameters from 4 in. to more than 22 ft. In addition to lining pipe that is being rehabilitated, the process can be used on new steel pipe, after installation. There's no damage to the lining during transit, and less weight to handle during installation.
