Optimax Performance software is a high-fidelity system that executes real-time performance calculations on all plant components. These values are then automatically compared to the performance predicted for the actual operating conditions. Two optional components focus on optimizing sootblower operations and analyzing turbine and turbine thermal cycle performance.
The system, which operates within an Oracle relational database environment, can be used standalone or within a distributed network, thus providing performance-related information directly to any networked PC.
The Online Plant Performance component continuously calculates controllable losses, and therefore can assist operators in using boiler and steam cycle controllable parameters to improve heat rate and system efficiency, including excess air, main steam temperature and pressure, and superheat/reheat spray flows.
The Sootblowing Performance component calculates the actual performance for each boiler section by measuring water/steamside heat absorption and performing an iterative gas-side heat balance around each individual section. Additionally, radiation heat transfer is accounted for in the upper furnace heat transfer sections
