Metering Technology Corporation (MTC)n an ANSI or IEC model, the residential electric meter offers automatic recording and reporting of power surges, sags, and outages. Information security is provided by multiple password levels and data encryption in both models.

The ANSI model complies with ANSI specifications C12.1, C12.10, C12.13, and C12.16. Models are available with telephone communications or remote disconnect, have a 200A load capacity, advanced computation of metrology values, and multi-range 0.5% and 1.0% accuracy for single-phase loads. It is capable of storage for months of energy readings and simultaneous gas, water, or other counter or status information (optional). Models with remote disconnect provide automatic disconnect and reconnect functions by using remote, secure communications via telephone modem. This eliminates the need for site visits to terminate or activate the utility service.

IEC models provides simultaneous gas, water, or other counter or status information (optional) as well as 40 or 120A maximum current inputs and load capacity. Available with powerline carrier communications or with prepayment and remote disconnect, the meter complies with IEC 61036. The powerline carrier communications model offers up to 45 days of recording and multi-range 1.0% accuracy. Models featuring prepayment and remote disconnect feature load-control circuitry for turning the meter on or off and multi-range 1% and 2% accuracy for single-phase loads. It is capable of data transfer by holding card to LCD.
