In an effort to reduce the chances of accidents happening at schools, the manufacturer developed the Green Cross family of products for improving school crosswalk safety. The products consist of a flag for school crosswalk guards that is both lightweight and highly visible, a lightweight safety post that mounts in the middle of the road, alerting drivers to the presence of children in the roadway, and specially sized, highly visible safety vests for the school crossing guards. All of these devices use a new color, florescent yellow green, which is designed to be quickly picked up by the eyes. This color is restricted for use in crosswalks only, so that any time a driver sees this color, they know to be alert for pedestrians who are in the roadway. The system offers the promise of a safe walk to and from school for children.
