World's largest annual water quality exhibition jumps up from 78 to 74 in 2009

Tradeshow Week magazine has named WEFTEC, the Water Environment Federation's (WEF) annual technical exhibition and conference, as the 74th largest trade show in the nation for 2009. The largest water quality conference in North America and the largest annual water quality exhibition in the world, continues to rise on the list, jumping up four positions from 78 in 2008.

"This designation from Tradeshow Week recognizes and reinforces the importance of WEFTEC for promoting information and technology exchange among water professionals and as an invaluable venue for business opportunities in the water quality field," said WEF President Paul Freedman. "We remain committed to providing the best in research, technology and peer-to-peer networking for the thousands of water professionals who attend WEFTEC each year."

Compiled annually by Tradeshow Week magazine, the prestigious Tradeshow Week 200 list ranks U.S. trade expositions according to the net square feet of paid exhibit space. The final ranking is the culmination of a yearlong process of analyzing data on nearly 5,000 shows.

WEF received this year's designation for WEFTEC.09 that was held October 10-14, 2009 in Orlando, Fla. More than 17,000 water quality professionals attended the event, which featured the latest in research, education, technology and services in the water quality field. The exhibition floor featured 995 exhibitors using a total of 264,400 net square feet of floor space.

This year's conference, WEFTEC 2010, will take place October 2-6 in New Orleans, La. With a world-class technical program of 112 technical sessions, 34 workshops and six local facility tours, the 83rd annual event is expected to draw thousands of water quality professionals and exhibitors from around the world. To date, more than 800 companies have already reserved over 275,000 net square feet of floor space at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.
